James Lawrence - Triple Jam Sandwich

James started his love affair with music and especially jazz very early on. By 17 he had his own trad jazz band, vocal quartet and full big band, but at this point things changed a good deal when he received a scholarship to study singing at the Royal Academy Of Music (6 years) and has been combining the voice and trombone ever since!

Performing works by Monteverdi or Mahler is just as natural as playing Count Basie, The Skatalites or P-Funk and he likes nothing better than doing crazy genre crossovers!!

3 years ago Swing Punk was born and it gave rise to a new exciting sub genre as we turned classic punk songs into big band swingers so please have a listen, a laugh and a boogie

Triple Jam Sandwich is the culmination of several years at the coal face of the London music scene playing with and meeting the huge pool of European musicians seeking a musical home. TJS is made up of the Acoustic Nomads (small group jazz projects), Skabone (horn powered ska and reggae in trio or up to 8 piece band) plus the more modern group, Electro Nomads (classic funk and neo-soul vibes) . There success was picked up by the talent scouts at Ronnie Scott's and have been resident there since 2017 clocking up over 20 nights of our own at the famous jazz club. In the last two months TJS have also launched a new night in the pulsating heart of Brixton and is headed to be one of the most successful live music nights in the capital in record time!
